If might could not take me,
Then righteous kindness would do.
If this apple once removed from the tree,
Returns for the time of rising is highly due.

I have the power to strike and to unite-
The flagless nations would again one anthem sing.
Hard to get is absolutely my character and my right,
I would never be wielded but by the hands of a king.

Excalibur

Excalibur

If might could not take me,

(Taking Excalibur out of the stone was not a matter of strength as many strong men tried and failed)

Then righteous kindness would do.

(It is not strength that it takes to pull out the sword, but the right to wield my power)

May this apple, once removed from the tree,

(referring to Arthur that was sent away from the royal palace for his own safety when he was still a baby.)

Return for the time of rising is highly due.

(It is time for this royal child to return and for all the world to know who he is for it is the time of need he has been saved for.)

I have the power to strike and to unite-

(Excalibur sword had the power to strike the enemies of Britain and to unite Britain once again like in the days of Uther Pendragon, Arthur’s father.)

The flagless nations would again one anthem sing.

(After the Pendragon’s death, the once united Britain was torn apart into many smaller kingdoms, and Excalibur is going to unite them under one banner once more.)

Hard to get is my character and my right,

(Excalibur is definitely not easy to get, and it is not too much for this sword to ask.)

I would never be wielded but by the hands of a king.

(For the hands that wield this sword will give them the right to rule and be king.)
